RCI, a Wyndham company that pioneered the concept of exchange vacations, had been producing a magazine for its more than two million North American members. But the magazine included primarily resort-focused advertising and lacked a cohesive editorial plan and design.
Story transformed Endless Vacation into a high-quality magazine featuring beautiful original photography and articles by leading journalists. We recruited one of travel journalism’s leading editors, Barbara Peck, former executive editor of Travel & Leisure, and developed a fresh, more elegant design. Content was organized around what travelers most want to do on vacation—play, eat, shop, relax and explore.
Story relaunched the magazine in only 90 days to meet RCI’s schedule. We also developed EndlessVacation.com—a Web extension of the magazine that provides online-exclusive content and a community space where readers share their vacation photos as well as their favorite activities and destinations.
By raising awareness of the magazine we increased ad revenue by more than 10%. We slashed production costs by $5 million annually. And through EndlessVacation.com, we have increased members’ interaction with and loyalty to the brand.
