      • Relaunching Endless Vacation

        Endless Vacation, the world’s largest-circulation travel magazine, was for many years produced in-house by RCI. In 2006, RCI decided it was time for a dramatic change – and they asked Story Worldwide to take over the reins.

        RCI’s goals for the new magazine were as follows:

        • Redesign Endless Vacation, creating a high-quality magazine full of beautiful original photography and articles by leading journalists.
        • Expand the Endless Vacation brand beyond the magazine to show RCI’s growth in offerings beyond timeshare.
        • Raise awareness of the magazine in the media community to increase advertising revenue.
        • Reduce production costs by $1M annually.


        Story transformed Endless Vacation into a high-quality magazine featuring beautiful original photography and articles by leading journalists. We recruited one of travel journalism’s leading editors, Barbara Peck, former executive editor of Travel & Leisure, and developed a fresh, more elegant design. Content was organized around what travelers most want to do on vacation—play, eat, shop, relax and explore.

        Story relaunched the magazine in only 90 days to meet RCI’s schedule. We also developed EndlessVacation.com—a Web extension of the magazine that provides online-exclusive content and a community space where readers share their vacation photos as well as their favorite activities and destinations.

        Story’s work has earned Endless Vacation the following prestigious awards:

        • Gold Award for Best New Publication/Web (2007)
        • Silver Award for Strategy: Best New Launch or Relaunch (2007)
        • Bronze Award for Design: Best Special Issue (2008)

        Magnum Opus Awards

        • Gold Award for Most Improved Editorial (2008)
        • Silver Award for Most Improved Design (2008)
        • Silver Award for Best Advertising Sales Results (2008)
        • Honorable Mention for Best Feature Design (2008)

    • Story raised awareness of the magazine and increased ad revenue by more than 10%. We also slashed production costs by $1 million annually.
