Gaetano Pollice
Production Editor
New York City
Gaetano cannot travel without the aid of public transportation or a generous friend with an automobile. Although he applied for a learner’s permit at 16 and took the family’s Volkswagen Passat for a few spins with his mother, he instead preferred to navigate his hometown, Pittsburgh, by light rail and bus. (His parents are still ashamed to drive him everywhere when he visits.) Today, Gaetano is involved in a torrid love/hate relationship with New York City’s MTA.
Gaetano is not exactly what you’d call a discerning foodie. From hot dogs of questionable origin bought at street carts to nondairy vegan dinners with friends, he’ll consume pretty much anything put in front of him. Except one thing. Due to a rather unfortunate food allergy, apples are off-limits.
