Notable authors tell a branded story

Lexus has commissioned nine established authors to pen a collaborative story about a cross-country road-trip in the carmaker’s new IS F. The series, titled "In the Belly of the Beast" (the Beast being the newly-purchased IS F), is the second Lexus original fiction project and will be published in parts in Lexus magazine, starting in the Spring 2008 issue.

Each author, including National Book Award winner Bob Shacochis and Pulitzer Prize winner Jane Smiley, has written one of the nine chapters of the story about a recently engaged couple moving from New York to California by car. The story is peppered with domestic discontent, a new job at Google and choice details about the IS F’s features.

New York-based illustrator John Jay Cabuay provides modern, color-saturated drawings to accompany the piece. Richard McCann, Curtis Sittenfeld, Brian Antoni, Pam Houston, Robert Ferrigno, Mary Otis complete the list of contributing authors.
